Educational / Technical Experience Requirements

Call on company CIO’s as a rep for us as you look for a job with them.
We are a small, ($2 mil sales), local computer supply, product and service distributor in downtown Ann Arbor. We are looking for a skilled IT professional to call on local business community’s CIO’s and Managers to further establish our local presence and increase sales.
You will rep four categories of products and services:
1.YOURSELF. Ultimately, one of the companies with whom you have established a professional relationship with will hire you because they will know your skill set, and they will like and trust you from their experience with you.. This is your goal as well as ours, because when they hire you, we will gain an even more loyal customer. That’s you. We will all celebrate your career advancement and look for your replacement.
2.IT CONTRACT SERVICES. You will sell your network and systems administration skills at an hourly rate or contract price while selling a complete catalog of computer consumables, peripherals, components and hardware at prices as good as if not better than the internet super warehouses. Our goal is to provide small businesses who do not have IT staff with technical assistance or upgrades and for larger companies with an IT staff who are too busy to perform projects to contract us. Your job will be to offer yourself under our umbrella of products and services. Remember: one of these companies will hire you eventually.
3.PRODUCTS. Monitors, keyboards, routers, memory, cables, software, printers, laptops, bar code printers/software, power supplies, etc, etc. We are authorized HP, Xerox, Zebra and Samsung dealers, and we can get most OEM and compatible products such as Kensington, Kingston, Belkin, Toshiba, Sony, Iomega, etc. Our prices will always be as low as or better than anything they can find on-line. The difference is that, as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) we stand behind everything we sell both literally and figuratively. The support staff here does the shopping for IT Managers too busy to shop on-line themselves or to deal with the BS of retuning DOA or incompatible items purchased. For example, if there is a hint of a printing problem, we replace toner free of charge in minutes, or we might offer to install a color laser printer in gratis.
4.CONSUMABLES. Toner, both OEM and compatible, drums, back up media, CD-R’s and DVD’s, bar code ribbons and labels, specialty paper, and ink jets. Again, we are authorized to sell most brands of consumables.
In general, we separate ourselves from the internet marketers and office/computer product superstores by making same and next day deliveries, and with real people answering the phone and assisting customers as needed. We are a University of Michigan Strategic Supplier because we can compete on a national level with a local presence.
A company van will be available to you during working hours. While we have a full time local delivery person, you are welcome, but not required, to make deliveries as a way for getting in to see your customers. A spartanlike workspace with a phone and computer will be available for making appointments and preparing quotations, but the job will be mostly on the streets. You will have good support for quotation preparations, product support and the process of receiving orders and their delivery. There is plenty of free parking.
The ideal candidate will be educated and or experienced in computer operations. She/he will be comfortable networking at S.P.A.R.K. and the Chamber. Most importantly this person will be comfortable making calls to the IT Managers of businesses in town to schedule personal visits. Getting appointments is difficult, but the success rate for those companies you communicate directly with is very high. The Chamber Directory, other lists of prospects as well as present and past customers will be your source for leads. Finally, your physical presentation must be good and you must be genuinely friendly, kind, and aggressive in hunting for new business. We develop long term professional relationships with our customers based on positive experiences, and your communications will be the first step in this process.Annarbor - A2 Hosting - Customer Support Technician
